When you are doing lat pull downs, put your thumb on the bar. This action increases the input necessary from your back and decreases the involvement of your arms, giving you a good back workout. Placing your thumbs next to your index finger around the bar also works when you are doing pull ups. Place your thumb around the bar next to your ring finger when you are doing lateral pulldowns. This will help target the workout to your back muscles. Placing your thumbs this way will take pressure off your arms and rely on your back more. You should also do this with pull ups.

If you like shopping, park in the furthest spot from the store; if you like music, sign up for a dance class. Go for a small walk during your breaks. Exercise has proven benefits even when only done for a short period of time.

Getting in shape is not that big of a struggle. It's all in your head. You need to have the Four Important Traits (FIT): time, dedication, work, and patience. These things matter in other areas besides fitness, so it's a good idea to develop them anyway. If you are capable of fulfilling your duties as a parent, spouse, and employee, you are likely to be capable of meeting your obligations as a healthy, fit individual.
